After a storm, everyone needs help at once

Roofs leak, crawl spaces fill, and low streets flood. Every restoration company is booked and the storm chasers are knocking on doors. You need someone local and licensed who will still be here to finish the rebuild.

We live here too

AmeriTribe has worked through Hampton Roads storm seasons from our Chesapeake office since 2011. We dry it out, repair the roof and the walls, and stay through the final walkthrough.

Three steps, one company

  1. Call (757) 520-5190.

We get on the schedule fast and help you protect the house from more water.

  2. We dry and document.

Water out, structure dried, every reading and photo ready for your adjusters.

  3. We rebuild, roof included.

Roof, walls, floors and finishes by one company.

Is flood damage covered by homeowners insurance?

Usually not. Standard homeowners policies generally exclude flooding from rising water, which is covered by a separate flood insurance policy, often through FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program. Wind-driven rain through a damaged roof is often treated differently from flood water. AmeriTribe documents how the water got in, which matters to both adjusters.

What should I do first after storm damage?

Make sure everyone is safe and stay away from downed lines and standing water near outlets. Photograph the damage, cover openings if you can do it safely, and call your insurer to open a claim. Then call AmeriTribe to stop the water and start drying.

Our flood and storm damage process

  1. Emergency response. Stop more water getting in and make the home safe.

  2. Water removal. Pumps and extractors clear standing water, including crawl spaces.

  3. Tear-out. Flood-soaked drywall, insulation and flooring are removed.

  4. Structural drying. Air movers and dehumidifiers run to dry standard.

  5. Documentation. Photos, readings and an Xactimate estimate for each policy involved.

  6. Roof and exterior. Roof replacement and exterior repairs by the same company.

  7. Interior rebuild. Drywall, floors, cabinets, paint and trim.

Flood water is not clean water

Flood water from outside can carry sewage and contaminants, and it starts mold growing in walls within days. AmeriTribe handles the cleanup, the mold remediation if it is needed, and the rebuild, without sending you to another contractor.

From a client

Ameritribe has just finished a Five Month restoration on my parents home. A fallen tree caused massive damage to the property and Ameritribe has worked miracles getting my parents back in their home. Throughout this process Ameritribe has been unfailingly helpful, courteous, diligent and professional. They returned every phone call. They answered every text. They finished the project early. They made a difficult situation as easy as possible. I highly recommend this company, I am thankful for them and truly appreciate them.

What waiting costs you

After a big storm, waits get longer by the day, and wet materials don't wait. Get on the schedule early, protect the house from more rain, and keep every receipt for your claim.

What affects the cost of storm damage restoration?

Cost depends on how much water got in and how, whether the roof or exterior was damaged, how much has to be torn out, and the scope of the rebuild. A roof leak into one room is a very different job from flood water across a whole floor. AmeriTribe writes the Xactimate estimate your adjusters will review.

What moves the price up or down

  • Flood water versus wind-driven rain
  • Roof and exterior damage
  • Crawl space water
  • Square footage of tear-out
  • Rebuild scope

Do I need separate flood insurance?

For flooding from rising water, usually yes. FEMA's National Flood Insurance Program explains that standard homeowners policies typically do not cover flood damage, which is why flood policies are sold separately. Check what you carry before storm season.

Flood and Storm Damage FAQ

Do you replace roofs after storm damage?

Yes. AmeriTribe handles roof replacement as part of storm restoration, so the company drying your house can also fix the roof that let the water in.

Do you handle tidal and street flooding?

Yes. Rising water through doors and crawl spaces is common across South Hampton Roads. We remove the water, dry the structure and rebuild, and document the loss for your flood policy.

How do I avoid storm-chaser contractors?

Check the license on the Virginia DPOR website, ask for a certificate of insurance and local references, and be wary of anyone demanding a large deposit at the door. AmeriTribe is a Class A contractor based in Chesapeake since 2011.

Can you start before my adjuster visits?

Yes, for emergency protection and drying. Insurers generally expect you to prevent further damage. We photograph and document everything before we remove it, so your adjuster can see what was there.

What if my crawl space flooded?

Crawl space water needs to come out quickly, and the space needs to dry, because it feeds mold under the whole house. AmeriTribe pumps it out, removes wet insulation and dries the space.
